Find a Smorgasbord of Math Tools at Coolmath4kids
November 2, 2007
Coolmath4kids.com is a veritable buffet of math resources for elementary students. And like any buffet, the amount of options can be a little overwhelming. The options are a little hit-and-miss, but you can find some fun and useful resources here that will help kids’ math comprehension, such as flash cards, times tables, as well as games like Lemonade Stand (tip: buy in bulk, except for ice).
Perhaps I’m a curmudgeon, but this site provides a shining example of the difference between what kids think is cool, and what adults think kids think is cool. The look of Coolmath4kids is pretty cartoony, which works for a kids page, but seems a little too cutesy on its sister site, Coolmath.com, which is geared toward teenaged students. But appearance aside, you can find lots of helpful tools here. And that’s something we all can agree is cool. –BILL FERRIS
