Keep Your Text Simple with DarkCopy
April 8, 2008
How did people get by with just a typewriter? MS Word and OpenOffice Writer pack a lot of features like formatting, highlighting, adding links, search and replace, mail merges, tables, macros, and a bunch of others I may or may not know how to use. Now that I think about it, sometimes I wish I did just have a typewriter.
If you long for simpler textual times, but don’t care for the stark look of your computer’s Notepad program, you should give DarkCopy a try. DarkCopy’s green text on a black background creates a glare-free, distraction-free experience where all you have to worry about is your writing.
Use DarkCopy in class for simple journal entries and writing assignments. Its distinctive color scheme means that if students are goofing around and watching cartoons instead of working, it’ll be pretty easy to spot.
You can save your work as a text file and open it in any word processing program for more advanced editing later. After you give DarkCopy a try, though, you may not want to keep things simple from now on. -BILL FERRIS
