    Ever wondered about the physics behind the slapshot? I haven’t. But after looking at Science of the Olympic Winter Games from NBC Sports and the National Science Foundation, I at least feel guilty about it.

    The 2010 Winter Olympics begin February 12, and the SOWG site provides a timely look at the science surrounding Olympic events, and exciting new vocabulary words like “meltwater.” Find out the reasons behind design differences in ice skates, speed skates and hockey skates.
