Skye
Great for blogging-exclusive websites
If you’re building a website solely for blog posts, Skye is one of the best Squarespace blog templates for you. Its grid layout makes it look clean and its navigation features the different categories on your website, making it easy for visitors to find what they need. In addition, the blog posts have a sidebar where you can add your bio, your Instagram feed or ads.
The caveat to using the Skye, however, is it’s not the most flexible Squarespace blog template. For instance, if you want text-based navigation or want them to show at the top on mobile view, you may have to choose another template. Also, you can only use full-width banner images at the top of the Skye template. If you want to add a full-width call to action section, say, at the end of the blog post or home page, you can’t do so on the Skye template.
Tudor
Best for Squarespace blogs with multiple authors and contributors
Tudor’s layout is similar to Skye’s. The major difference is Tudor’s masonry layout where the image sizes vary on the page, almost reminiscent of a Pinterest board. Like Skye, Tudor also has a sidebar, author profiles, social sharing icons, and the standard tools most bloggers need on a blogging website.
Native
Best for media-heavy blogs
Photography, travel, or architecture Squarespace websites with blogs will benefit from the layout of the Native template. The blog post page features big images and there’s also an option to just view the images as a gallery and add a location, features that are great for showcasing portfolios, real estate, and more.
The downside to using the Native template is the lack of sidebars. If you want to use Native and really require a sidebar, one way around is to use a sidebar plugin.
Bedford
Great for websites that need clear call to action buttons
Squarespace’s Bedford template is not designed specifically for bloggers. However, we like how clean its blog layout is and if your website offers more than just blog posts, then Bedford is an excellent choice. Its layout has clearly visible call to action buttons and the rest of the home page layout looks professional and fresh.
Just like the Native template, Bedford doesn’t have a built-in sidebar for the blog posts and author profiles.
Rally
Best Squarespace template if you want to add banner photographs within the page
The ability to add banner photographs and customize blocks in between the blog posts makes for an aesthetically appealing website. However, the downside to using the Rally template is the thumbnails located right after the navigation. They are small and look wonky on mobile (see above photo).
Squarespace’s Rally blog template is flexible, but it may not be for you if you don’t know how to code or don’t want to mess with the template settings. To add, just like Native, Rally doesn’t have an inbuilt sidebar option and author profiles.
